So, focus on culture war now originally come from leftist tradition, but since right coopted and redifined it for their reactionary fight, it is now bipartisan thing. So, it is not surprising that today liberal means progressive, which is a social position, not conservative economical position as it was before
So, yeah, Europe is very different from America. Economical différences are real there, not like in America at all. Culture war is a very American thing, it exist because people mostly widely agree that capitalism is not only good, Capitalism is American, so only good way parties in America can differ is in their social position.
